Amicably greeting goodbye to the Summer, an off-centering summer indeed, the summer of the post-lockdown nonetheless quite a momentous summer for me.
The summer of a few but essential ethical evenings spent with friends-artists-DJs and record collectors.
A summer almost completely savoured thanks to the bubbly- jazzy ‘made in Italy’ music scene and crucially, the happening exception for me, of meeting the astounding Fatoumata Diawara when I was asked to open for her at the LOCUS festival where she played live in the beautiful setting of a typical Apulian agriturismo country farm accompanied by uber talented ‘Snarky Puppy’ leaders, multi-instrumentalists Michael League and Bill Laurance and the Orchestra della Magna Grecia.
OpenUP # 5 is a heartfelt mix born reflecting on the distant beauty of two shooting stars spotted on San Lorenzo’s night after a magical Salento evening in music (respect, love and gratitude to La Restuccia UrbanMasseria https://www.facebook.com/larestuccia/).
OpenUP#5 is a kinetic selection made without great pretensions other than re-creating moments and sensations of collectively active joy: the energising unexpected cosmic connection found in the rhythms and the dynamics of upbeat music selected from ‘old and new’ from all over the world sent across to everyone worldwide.
